Black represents obscurity, emptiness and evil. It is the absence of colour, however it is also used to make the other colours darker. You wear it because it is a provocative and attractive colour (for example women’s black lace lingerie), because -thanks to black- you are hidden by a veil of secrecy. This colour is a wall between the person and the world. It is not a coincidence that women who hold powerful positions often wear black: it creates a halo of mystery around them and it helps them when they are still unsure of their own personality or of their achieved position. For example, Blair is wearing a black dress with a rhinestone collar for her meeting with the prestigious Colony Club (2x14), which she would gladly join despite her young age, and she is wearing black for a party organized by W magazine for which she’s working (4x13).
Is it any wonder why Eleanor ships Chair?
WADE: Where are you going? This isn’t the way home.
ZOE: It’s the back way to Mobile. I thought maybe we could hang out, maybe see a rainy day movie.. or bowl, I have never bowled before but I’m willing to try.
WADE: Are you insane? Turn around! Look, I know this is your first one of these storms but we shouldn’t be driving in this.
ZOE: Come on, it’s just a little rain! Look, Wade.. how long are you going to hold a grudge? We live in the same house, we share a kitchen.
WADE: I’m working on correcting that situation. Before my car broke down I was on my way to checking out an apartment. I’m moving off the plantation.
ZOE: What?
WADE: Look Doctor Manhattan, in about three minutes there’s going to be more lightning than you’ve ever seen before so just.. turn us around and get us back to Bluebell.
ZOE: I can’t. I cannot turn around. Okay, maybe I can turn around.
WADE: Nah, it’s too late now. The storm’s kicking up fast, we need to get to that barn back there.
ZOE: I’m not scared of a little lightning.
WADE: That’s ‘cause in New York you were surrounded by a hundred story lightning rods, the next tree that comes down could be on this car. It’s up to you, Doc.
ZOE: Wait for me!
What we have is a great love. It’s complicated. Intense. All-consuming. No matter what we do and how much we fight, it’ll always pull us in.
